It’s graduation time. Do you know where your health insurance is? Depending on your health plan, it might be gone. For many American students still covered under a parent’s insurance, health coverage ends upon graduation; they will be left to navigate the increasingly expensive and complicated world of health insurance as they struggle to find jobs.
Luckily for some, since 1994, 30 states have passed laws extending the age at which young adults are allowed to be dropped from their parent’s plan. In Massachusetts, insurance companies must cover children for two years after they lose dependent status or until age 26, whichever comes first. In New Jersey, a dependent may stay on his parent’s plan until 31 as long as he is unmarried. Connecticut, New York and Maryland, among others, all have similar laws that extend coverage, while California and Washington, D.C. have no such laws. Obama’s health care plan would guarantee that children remain eligible for their parent’s plan until age 26.
Despite these laws, young adults aged 18 to 25 are the most likely age group to be uninsured. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2008, 28 percent of Americans aged 18 to 24 lacked health insurance. Given that only 11 percent of children under 18 lacked health coverage in 2004, this is a precipitous decline for those children who now fall into the 18 to 24 age group. The likelihood of being uninsured decreases with age over 25, and in total, 15 percent of Americans were uninsured in 2008.
The Independent talked to a number of seniors and recent graduates about their attitudes toward their health insurance decisions. On the whole, most seemed more interested in finding a job than in finding health coverage.

What You Should Know About Health Plans

In general, large monthly premiums mean small deductibles and small monthly premiums mean large deductibles.
A monthly premium is the amount of money you pay per month for your coverage. A deductible is the amount of money that you must pay out of your own pocket before the health insurance company will begin to pay for any health care costs. For example, if you have a the BlueChoice HSA plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield, your deductible is $2700 per year. In a given year, you will have to pay $2700 of your own money on medical expenses before Blue Cross will start to help you out. So, logically, if you are responsible for paying a large deductible, then you won’t be responsible for a high monthly fee, and vice-versa.

Your out-of-pocket expenses in one year will not exceed a set amount.
One of the most important aspects of health insurance is that even if you have a catastrophic year of medical problems, you will hopefully not go bankrupt. Let’s say you have been hospitalized and have already paid enough to cover your deductible. The BlueChoice plan says that once you have paid the deductible, hospitalization will only cost you $600 per day while Blue Cross pays the rest. However, you will not have to pay more than $5,250.

Some plans require that you pay coinsurance once you have reached your deductible.
Health insurance companies can specify a percentage of health expenses that you must pay until you have reached your out-of-pocket maximum.

When you visit the doctor or get a prescription, you usually only have to pay a co-pay and the insurance company will pick up the rest.
A co-pay is the fixed amount of money that your health insurance company charges for doctors’ visits or prescription medication. Co-pays for visits to specialists cost more than those to a primary care doctor, and co-pays for generic drugs are lower than for brand-name ones. If you have the BlueChoice plan, preventative care, like annual check-ups to your primary care doctor or OB/GYN are totally free, but if you choose to see a doctor for any other reason, you must pay the full cost of the visit until you have paid your deductible. After that, you only pay your co-pay.

You can save money, tax-free, for health care.
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), created in 2003, operate just like savings accounts for health care expenses. If you have a plan with a large deductible, it will most likely offer you an HSA. You can deposit money into the account, before taxes, and it will accrue tax-free interest. You can withdraw the money to pay for a long and comprehensive list of “qualified” health care expenses. If you withdraw the money for any unqualified expenses you are subject to a ten percent fee.

The type of plan you have will determine your doctor “network.” Visits to doctors outside of your network may not be covered by your plan.
A Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan has the most restrictive rules but it is usually are the cheapest option. You are required to have a primary care physician who will see you for most of your appointments and refer you to specialists if need be. Your plan will only cover visits with doctors who have specifically made an agreement with your HMO-your network. Another choice is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan, which does not require that you have a primary care doctor and offers a much larger network of approved doctors. You can also choose to see a doctor outside of the network, but this will cost you more.

The fact of the matter is, all of us would want to live a healthy, happy and normal life, free of any disease or ailments of anything really that can cause discomfort in our lives. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that it is not the case and most of us, whether we like it or not, will experience some unpleasant condition or another at some point in your lives. Unless of course you live in a bubble.A healthy, happy and disease free life is what all of us dream of for ourselves and our families. This is sadly, just a dream, as all of us, at some point or other undergo some physical discomfort or the other. This shall be true for all, except those among us who reside in a protective bubble!

Maladies always happen once too often – one may never want them back again. They are associated with such a great deal of pain and discomfort (the name itself means lack of comfort – dis-ease) that we would like it to be as far away from us as possible. The same is the case with yeast infection.

Now a yeast infection just happens to be one of those conditions which you never want to go through again once you have had it before and if you have not had it, preferably you would do your best not to get it if you can because the experience is such as unpleasant one to begin with. What with all the burning, itching, soreness and not to mention the bad odor, anyone who has it will be running for the nearest medication for yeast infection or cures for yeast infection that they can get their hands on to get rid of it as soon as possible.

A cure for yeast infection is not that difficult really, as you can find plenty of information that you need either online, through a medical specialist or by asking around at people whom you know have experience it before and will be able to tell you what to do in this instance. But once the whole unpleasant experience is over and done with and you can breathe a huge sigh of relief while making a mental note to yourself that you never want to experience something like that again, don’t throw away the medication for yeast infection or for yeast infection that you have because now it is time for the bad news – unfortunately, yeast infection does have a tendency to recur.

However, do not let that worry you too much as there are several types of medications and available tips to help you avoid the recurrence. Some of these tips are:

Try to use natural fabrics when you can, such as cotton for example. Cotton underwear is one of the best things to use because cottons are natural fabrics which allow your skin to breathe and this will help the oxygen flow around that region. Bacteria breed when conditions are warm and moist and other fabrics tend to trap the heat in that area, making it more susceptible or prone to yeast infection.

Be sure to keep your vaginal area clean at all times. This is the area that is most prone to getting yeast infection and one of the most common because it has the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and it is an area which is much more sensitive than that of your other areas. Always keep it clean as best you can and this will help prevent of at lease minimize the bacteria’s chances of thriving in that area.

Application of scented soaps and talcum in genitalia is also a strict no-no owing to the sensitivity of the region. Also, never share towels and washcloths – you have no idea what the previous user suffered from. Get your own linen and clean it or change it regularly.

Hence, the biggest possible advice against recurrence is to keep one’s vaginal area clean and dry. But, to be on the safe side, keep medication for yeast infection close by. You may just need it.

Many students and professionals today live such busy lives that they suffer from chronic, stress related problems like headaches, dizzy spells, stiff neck, back pains, and so on. The problem is, they spend too much time studying or working. As a result, their health suffers.

So they start visiting doctors to get doctor’s excuse notes in order to be able to get some rest. But this doesn’t solve their problem. You see, first of all, even a short doctor’s consultation costs money. And some students who may be on a tight budget may be unwilling to spend such money. Moreover, why wait until one’s health really suffers before doing anything? Isn’t prevention better than cure? It sure is.

But this is easier said than done. Preventing health problems is only possible with adequate rest. However, in many circumstances, it’s almost impossible to get the rest that the body sorely needs.

For example, a student’s schedule may be jam packed with lectures and tutorials. And attendance is compulsory. Without a certain percentage of attendance, the student won’t get to graduate. The same goes for working adults. Absence often affects staff reviews. So most people push themselves to the limit even when their body is telling them to stop.

So what to do?

Some people have discovered downloadable doctor’s excuse notes online. These are authentic looking excuse notes that may pass off as the real thing. They cost very little, and covers a wide variety of illnesses. That means one will never run out of excuses.

Once downloaded into your computer, these excuse notes are printable and can be reused again and again. Mostly, they are template based, so you can modify them according to your own needs. There are excuse notes from general practitioners (the most common physicians), hospitals, and even specialists.

A template based doctor’s excuse note means that you will be able to find authentic looking logos, great visual resemblance for the overall look and feel, and a doctor’s signature. These notes even come with the names of different illnesses printed on them.

When you get hold of these printable excuse notes, don’t just go out and submit the same excuse note over and over again. That is a sure way of getting caught. Instead, use them only when necessary – i.e. when you really feel you need the rest but somehow, the circumstances do not allow you to.

There are so many different types of illnesses and excuse notes available that it would actually be silly to just use the same one repeatedly. Rotate the notes so as not to raise any suspicion.

Finally, do remember to check the excuse notes before submitting them to the relevant personnel. Sometimes, there may be gender based illnesses printed on these notes, and you don’t want to submit a female related illness as an excuse when you are a male. That is a dead giveaway. But when used correctly, these doctor’s notes really work. They will give you the ample rest that you need so that you can accomplish more in the long run.
